Winters calling

As the leaves fall and trees stand bare

Holding calm and wisdom to share

Slow down as winter wanes to cold

Rest and let darkness unfold

In winter’s cloak of growing darkness

Look within you  to seek your answers

Seek joy in birds that come

to get warm

And shelter to weather winter’s storm

Winter it’s  time to rest and renew

Like a tree whose roots sleep, so can you

Embrace those cold bright and frosty days

Unwind, rest quietly,  match their pace

But rejoice at the sunny blue skies

And watch the trees for they are wise

Their winter wisdom is ages old

And bare and leafless they stand the cold

For next they know it will be spring

And with it new life will begin

Some birds will fly but more will come

Those that spent winter in the sun

And as the trees unfurl their leaves

We can awake from winters dreams

The dark of the year passes on

We greet the sight of March’s sun
