The root of evil is greed

In blissful ignorance we hide

Behind rising seas and burning skies

Precious habitat rent asunder

As into wilderness we plunder

The glorious Earth and what has been

A distant memory no longer seen

Those rich and famous may live long

enough to know what man has done

And as they contemplate without us

We whisper sadly what comes to pass

Radix malorum est cupiditas
