Yule (winter solstice)

As I watch the sun rise and set on the shortest day, I am grateful for my inner light within. As dark steals into the day, I rest in silence, feeling nothing but my breath, my heart beat. My inner calm silences all around, gratitude holds me like a fluffy cloud.

And even if the wind is swirling, howling like a lost beast; birds are singing more blissfully than a musical sonata; trees rustling like a old worn coat throwing its arms around me; raindrops beating on the ground making me feel cosy inside or waves crashing rhythmically on a shingle shore, I can find my still small voice of calm.

These sounds and beauty of nature energise my being. My gratitude is felt by grounding myself to the earth below and holding my light to the sky. This solstice I feel the energy from the waning moon, I feel hope that the lengthening of days brings and I sleep a little deeper until Feile Brighde heralds Imbolc and the bringing of spring.
