My tears flow freely
And inside my heart weeps
Your purr, your fur
Your endless presence
Lighting our lives
Sharing our home
Rushing to find us
As we come in through the door
Sneaking upstairs when no one is looking
Snuggling anywhere you can smell Lucy
Scaling the gate when you were an old lady so you can go missing for hours
Playing with dust balls or light reflections on the floor – scampering even with your old joints
Bringing Tim a mouse when he’s home alone
Making friends with a neighbour so you can eat ham
Cos you love Bernard Matthews!
Following us when we were off to the bus stop
All those times you joined in pre drinks
With Georgie and Haz and Hannah and James
And Ollie and Sophia and Debo and the gang
You made friends with everyone in the Close
I’ll miss you when I come down in the morning
I’ll miss watching TV with you and stroking you
You will always be my Cindy Bindy Bhajikins
Even though Lucy thought you were hers
For the first time this morning you walked across the grass
The wet grass
Leaving a Cindy shaped line across the lawn
You’re not quite Cindy anymore
And so we say farewell lovely lady
We have forever memories
Of your companionship and love
Thank you for being in our lives
Dear Cindy
Rest in peace!
