I couldn’t quite believe it
You had to be there you see
I ate flowers for breakfast
Drank seaweed beer for my tea
As the Sun was setting on solstice
I plunged into the deep blue sea
And that’s when the very thing happened.
As the full moon rose over me
I swam to the rock in the inlet
To see what was shiny and bright
And there was a beautiful mermaid
A dazzling sparkly sight
She had a long flowing hair of a silvery hue
A pink shiny body and a tail turquoise blue
An emerald fin which was striking and bold
And fabulous flippers in a eye catching gold
We lay on the rock together
As the sky turned a wonderful hue
Of pink and orange and yellow
And magenta and very light blue
I climbed on her rock to be near her
To sing her beautiful tune
And we sat there posing together
Under the light of the moon
Twas after on reading the legend
That the Midsummer mermaid appears
Only to those that dream fairies
And fight their most terrible fears
So yes you needed to be there
To see us both swim to the shore
And as I turned to the houses
The mermaid just wasn’t no more
