Plastic islands float in the ocean
Choking nature with a rhythmic motion
Plastic tides wash up on our shore
Plastic islands forming, more plastic galore
In seabirds feathers, in fishes scales
In turtles eggs and inside whales
Lying on the seabed for years and years
Toxic and deadly, our very worst fears
Soon there will be
More plastic than fish in the sea
But Power to the pupils
To you and to me
For we can set the fishes free
And help restore diversity
And if we don’t just wait and see
It will be plastic and chips for your tea!
Imagine what would happen
If you left plastic on the sand
And took a load of pretty shells
Home with you in your hand
The hermit crabs would have no choice
They can’t be naked and alone
They’d have to wear your plastic
A toxic man made home
Take nothing but your memories
Of a beach alive inside
Leave nothing but your footprints
To be swallowed by the rising tide
