British summer time

Waves rushing between the groynes

A relentless roaring pulsing force

A ship on course

For the harbour

Rattling pebbles, fizzing foam

Dancing shells alongside

the low morning rising tide

Adults wrapped up in down jackets and woolly hats

Children bare armed throwing stones

Dodging the incoming waves

Feeling brave

Staying dry

Almost

Sun glistens out at sea

The Easter sail boats race at speed

Taking heed

Of the winds following

that wild Spanish storm

A young band mime a song

For their album cover

Kayaks ride in on the busy surf

And a lone kite surfer sets up on the beach

As a pink wing surfer sets himself free

To the wind and the sea

The beach bringing joy to young and old

Despite the cold

Wind

Yet only two groynes away

Just the day before yesterday

A young man’s body found its way

To his last resting place

His last peaceful moments

Shared

by this ever changing

ever restless

Sea
