Stodmarsh

A Coot dives avoiding the cry of its young

Sedge and Cetti warblers battle it out to see who can shout the loudest

House Martins and Swifts mesmerise our view as they swoop and glide, twist and turn

The family of swans have managed a white baby who’s swimming amongst its ugly sisters

And the Great Crested Grebe struts around,,if you can strut on water, knowing it’s king of the lake

The distant sounds of Cuckoo, Bittern and Turtle Dove have faded away as the day getters older

And I fall into a deep meditation

Wondering when the Marsh Harriers will be back to frighten the peace

This is nature at its very best.

And the rainy squall comes and the lake is quiet only briefly

As the rain subsides the Marsh Harrier hunts on the banks

And the Grebes get amorous

And we feel very privileged to share these moments

We wander to the next hide, a solitary Painted Lady flutters past to rest

And as we sit serenaded by marsh frogs we are treated to a visit by several Hobbies. This is why I came here. And they spoil us by showing us what they can do.

What a treat!
