Solitude

My spirits lifted as we walked, and talked

And saw the swallows of the spring

Over fields and lanes to Cissbury ring

And homeward bound through farms and lanes, the azure sea a shimmering main

I dream of when this Covid ends

And we can walk here with our friends

The South Downs already feel like home – a glorious place for us to roam

They lift my spirit and my mood and help me deal with solitude
