0 to be in Rainow
The warmth of English Hills
The comfort of a bed
And no malaria pills
The church bells on a Sunday
Shop for forgotten food
Our little house and garden
Hot water, heat, firewood
I don’t miss Rainow all the time
Just a little of the day
Nepal is such a lovely place
In many ways I’d like to stay
The way of life, the quiet, the peace
No worries outside the country
But could we really live out here
With the illness, death and poverty
We may get this or die of that
Mountain sickness, diarrhoea
Encephalitis, injury, cholera, malaria
It’s great this different culture
But I know I ‘ll want to go
Back home when we’re all finished
To the village of Rainow
